Even though you love your job, you may experience pressure at some point of time, but when this continues, excess and chronic stress affects you physically and mentally and can also lead to several problems.

In the beginning stages you may experience few symptoms like headache, lack of appetite, fatigue, lack of concentration and so on, but in long run it can lead to severe problems like anxiety, hypertension, insomnia and other mental disorders. These health problems are raised due to common work place stressors like high targets, heavy workloads, competition over fellow workers, job uncertainty, low salary, lack of support and several others.

In order to eliminate several mental health disorders, managing your stress at workplace is very crucial and this can be achieved by planning your schedule and also by following few tips like

  • Prioritize and organize your tasks– Try and organize your tasks based on priorities. In this way you will be able to complete emergency tasks at first and reduce your pressure.
  • Learn to say “NO”– Yes, you read it correctly, learn to say “no” when you have enough burden. Do not over commit yourself and increase your pressures by setting unrealistic goals.
  • Seek help from co workers– You can seek help from your co workers, accept the fact that sometimes you alone can’t manage all the tasks. Getting support from your co workers helps to make you feel relaxed. Try and build strong support system at work place and this could be your strength.
  • Take short breaks– Take your breaks and move away from your desk for short periods. Talk to your colleagues, get some fresh air, have some snacks and this makes you feel fresh and also improves your productivity.
  • Talk to your family and friends– By sharing your burdens and worries with your near ones, you feel much relaxed. You may also get few valuable suggestions from them. Never keep your worries within yourself, this worsens your condition.
  • Have healthy diet– It is true that your diet have huge impact on your mood, behaviour and productivity. Healthy food makes you feel better and keeps you energetic. Diet rich in sugars, refined carbohydrates, trans fats and preservatives adversely affects your physical as well as your mental health. Have fresh fruits and veggies, omega 3 fatty acids and others which improve productivity and also boost your mood.
  • Go for regular exercises– Exercises and physical activities plays vital role in improving your concentration, productivity, health, mood and energy. Take short breaks from your work and practice some stretching’s to get relaxed. You can also practice yoga, meditation and breathing techniques to calm yourself.
  • Get enough sleep– Get enough quality sleep, it improves your overall health. It is the superior repairing technique of your body and improves your creativity, productivity, immunity and also your concentration. It helps to relieve your stress and also keeps you away from several mental health disorders.
